THE POODLES To Release 'Seven Seas' Single

April 18, 2007

Swedish hard rock band THE POODLES — consisting of vocalist Jakob Samuel (THE RING, ex-TALISMAN, JEKYLL & HYDE),guitarist Pontus Norgren (THE RING, ex-TALISMAN),bassist Pontus Egberg (ex-LION'S SHARE) and drummer Christian Lundqvist — will release its new single, "Seven Seas" (audio preview),in Sweden on April 25. The title cut is said to be a "true pirate story" which features an appearance by the Swedish actor Peter Stormare ("Prison Break", "Fargo" and "Jurassic Park")

Stated Samuel: "Peter is Blackbeard, the pirate with a burning fuze under the hat who was decapitated. The head was hung up on the stern of the ship, the body thrown in the sea, swimming eight laps around the ship before disappearing."

"Seven Seas" is the first single from the group's new album, "The Sweet Trade", which was once again produced by Matti Alfonzetti and Johan Lyander. The song was written by Jakob Samuel, Jonas Reingold and Peter Stormare.

Commented Samuel: "At the beginning the song was nice and neat but felt harmless. Jonas and I wanted it meaner with more substance, it needed Peter's power and deep black song."

Stormare laid down his parts at the StormVox Studio in West Hollywood, California — the same studio where he normally records with his band BFF (BLOND FROM FARGO),along with contributions from from former members of SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and GUNS N' ROSES, among other groups.

"When we put everything together and mastered in Stockholm, the story suddenly became true", Jakob said.

"The Sweet Trade" will be released on September 25.

The first single from THE POODLES' debut album "Metal Will Stand Tall", entitled "One Night of Passion" — which the band performed during their unsuccessful bid to become Sweden's official representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in Greece — was certified platinum in the band's home country. A follow-up single, "Metal Will Stand Tall" (a duet with Tess from the Swedish dance band ALCAZAR),was certified gold.
